About Retirement Ready & Calculation Methodology
Retirement Ready is an independent military retirement planning app by Momentum Apps, LLC. Its purpose is to make the moving parts of retired pay easier to understand.
How estimates are built
You supply your actual pay base and service information. The calculator applies the selected plan’s multiplier, shows gross military pay, models the VA waiver and the selected concurrent-pay scenario, then subtracts selected deductions. Gross military retired pay is rounded down to whole dollars.
The High-36 helper weights monthly pay amounts over exactly 36 months. Guard/Reserve calculations use points divided by 360 for equivalent longevity years and a verified pay start age entered by the user. Medical retirement estimates compare modeled longevity and disability formulas with applicable limits.
VA compensation and deductions
Included VA compensation tables are the 2026 tables effective December 1, 2025. Use an actual VA award amount for special monthly compensation or other individual adjustments. CRSC uses an actual approved award. CRDP and CRSC are never added together.
The standard spouse SBP estimate uses 6.5% of the elected base. Special coverage or individual premium arrangements can be entered using an actual premium.
What the estimate leaves out
Results are before tax. The app does not determine eligibility, establish a VA rating, reconstruct historical REDUX COLA, project TSP or future COLA, calculate a BRS lump sum, or adjudicate court orders, recoupment and individual entitlements.
Privacy and control
No account is required. Calculator inputs remain local, and saved selections can be cleared in Settings. Read the privacy policy and terms for the full details.
Sources and corrections
Formulas and explanations draw on published DoD, DFAS and VA information. The articles link to their official references. Content was reviewed against these sources in October 2026; individual cases and future changes should always be checked with the relevant agency.
